Item Description

Two, lustrous, azure-blue, bladed azurite rosettes are very aesthetically set in a vug in gossan matrix. The vug is lined with grayish-brown spherules of coronadite (for which this is the Type Locality) and beautifully complimentary smaller azurite rosettes and starkly contrasting malachite botryoids. The large azurite rosette is 2.2 cm. A trivial bit of periphery wear is noted to the large rosette, but is certainly a very modest detraction. Highly representative and uncommon combination material from the famous Morenci Mine. Ex Robert Whitmore Collection and collected by Stan Esbenshade, a well-known US field collector.
