Item Description

A classic specimen of the beautiful and desirable Azurites from the New Cornelia Mine (Ajo Mine) in Arizona. Obviously the best Azurites from Arizona are from Bisbee, the Ajo specimens are not far behind in terms of color, quality and displayability. This is a showy small cabinet sized specimen featuring several very sharp and rather lustrous "rose"-esque crystal groups of Azurite measuring up to 1.3 cm associated with minor chatoyant acicular crystals of mint green Malachite on host rock matrix. The Azurites are in good condition, though you can see micro chipping in areas upon close inspection. I have the stress the high luster of the crystals, as it's rare to see pieces like this on the market, especially these days. Also, it's important to note that good matrix display specimens of Azurite from the New Cornelia Mine are also fairly scarce, especially since the mine closed decades ago. Priced at $1,200 in our inventory.
