Item Description

You can find Azurite from a lot of world localities, but Milpillas has given collectors some of the finest quality examples of the species ever seen with some of the sharpest, most lustrous and richly colored (often gemmy) crystals of Azurite out there. Without question, these are the best contemporary Azurites, and sadly, the oxidized zone is finished at Milpillas, so here will likely never be another crumb of this material to come out of this prolific locality again. With that said, if you're a fan of Azurites or specifically these pieces from Milpillas, don't miss out on this attractive specimen. The piece features excellent quality, very sharp, intense midnight blue crystals of Azurite measuring up to 1.1 cm with very minor green Malachite. The luster of the Azurite crystals is very high for the species and the color of the Azurite with the Malachite is a true classic. The crystals honestly look better in person than the photos indicate, though there are few small imperfections that keep the piece from being 100% perfect. From the collection of Shields Flynn.
