Barite

These are some of the most iconic blue Barites in the world. They recently found their way to the market within the last few years, and captivated collectors for their beautiful color, breathtaking form and excellent crystallization. They feature thin bladed crystals, typically in parallel growth on wonderfully contrasting Limonite matrix. This piece is no exception featuring gorgeous soft blue crystals of bladed, thin Barite with excellent luster and form. The Barites have grown in somewhat "fan"-shaped groups, but upon close inspection you can see individual crystals, some of which are rather gemmy and lustrous. The largest individual crystal that I could measure comes in at 1.3 cm. The Barites are sitting on a layer of sparkling white Calcite on golden-brown Limonite matrix. No real damage to speak of, and very attractive up close.
