Item Description

A showy combination specimen of a classic, transparent to translucent, greenish-blue, barite prism with a chisel termination on sugary calcite from the famous Sterling Mine of Colorado. Barite has been known from this classic Colorado locale since the 1870s; and this specimen probably dates from the 1970s to mid-1980s collecting efforts. Complete all-around, with only very trivial edgewear. Highly representative of the locality, but unusually aesthetic in its presentation as a discrete crystal. The termination is superbly excavated and freestanding! Valued $400.
