Item Description

One of the best examples of this hard to find classic material from the famous Caucasus Region in Russia that I have seen. This hydrothermal uranium, nickel, etc mine produced some of these well known Barites on Fluorites about 40 years ago, but rarely of this quality. A group of superb, sharp, highly lustrous, gemmy, prismatic, parallel growth crystals of Barite sit atop gemmy, sharp, rich golden color cubic Fluorite matrix. Yes, there are a few small nicks on the Barite crystals, but you almost NEVER see crystals so gemmy from this mine. I showed the piece to two Russian mineral experts, and they both agreed that it's from Belorechenskoye, and an impressive piece for the locality. A VERY worthwhile specimen for any Russian mineral collector, or a collector of two-species association specimens. The Barite crystal cluster measures 5.7 cm long.
