Item Description

A 2.4 x 2.3 cm glassy, tabular barite prism with striking, desirable diamond shaped internal banding is dramatically set atop the matrix of oxide-coated pyrite microcrystals on this very fine and aesthetic small cabinet from the well-known 1980s finds at the Black Cloud Mine at Leadville. The scattered smaller barites are fine accessories. The two frontal display faces are pristine. Along with the specimens from the Eagle Mine in Gilman, these are the most well-known and beloved barites from any Colorado locality. They are now terribly difficult to find on the market, and sought after by collectors. Classic and excellent Colorado barite combination material from the Ted Bartels Collection.
