Item Description

A very hard to find cabinet display specimen of this elusive material from the Black Forest. This piece features bladed crytals of cream colored Barite which have formed into semi-radial aggregates on matrix. The "balls" measure up to 1.8 cm across and seem to be colored a golden hue by iron oxide with small black peppering of what I assume is also iron oxide. Great condition all over, and if you collect Barites or German minerals, don't miss out on this rare piece from this lesser known locality. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#4766). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
