Item Description

Please note: This specimen was labeled as coming only from the Untermuenstertal in the Schwarzwald (Black Forest), but based upon a similar specimen we offered from Kay's collection, we feel confident that it is from the Teufelsgrund Mine. With that said, Barite specimens are exceedingly difficult to find from this area, and this small cabinet is a good example featuring iron-stained bladed "rosettes" of crystals with individual blades measuring up to 1.2 cm with minor associated dull grey rounded Galena crystals and a couple smaller purple cubic Fluorites. The piece is contacted around the egdes where it was removed from the pocket wall, but the central portions are in very good condition. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#1095). Kay was a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics. She nearly lived 100 years from April 1920 - March 2020. See the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record ( https://www.mineralogicalrecord.com/pdfs/Kay%20Robertson%20Collection.pdf ), and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017.
