Item Description

Barites from Flagstaff Mountain are incredibly rare to find on the market, and are highly sought after my collectors for their beautiful rare purple color! This piece features a 2.1 cm, very well-formed, sharp, gemmy, lustrous, stout crystal of Barite with a distinctive purple hue and golden coloring on each corner. Minor associated Dolomite makes for a nice touch. Excellent condition, with only the slight bit of edge wear, but if you collect thumbnails, minerals of the United States or just unusually colored crystals, don't miss out on this gorgeous and highly elusive example from this lesser known locality in Washinton state. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#5228). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
