Item Description

Not your typical Barite from the Pohla Mine. We're much more accustomed to seeing the thicker rich golden color Barites from this locality, but this piece features unusually thin tabular pinkish colored Barites forming attractive semi-"flower"-shaped groups with individual crystals measuring up to 2.2 cm. Scattered cubic yellow Fluorites can be seen covering the stark red colored iron-covered Quartz matrix. If you flip the piece over, you can see it's slightly hollow underneath, and actually shows a slight banded appearance around the periphery of the Quartz. Great quality and VERY showy, which makes it all the more enticing for any German mineral collector. These are RARE so don't miss out as we don't have another one of this particular type from Pohla to offer. Valued at $750. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#11361). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017).
