Item Description

This locality has produced some of the most classic and easily recognizable Barite specimens from anywhere in the United States. The beautiful blue color combined with the excellent quality of the crystals makes them a Colorado classic. This piece features a "fan"-shaped group of translucent blue Barite crystals, but the most impressive aspect of the piece is the fact that it is associated with rich purple and golden colored cubic FLUORITE! I honestly don't think I have seen a piece of blue Barite from Stoneham with Fluorite from this locality. Now the Fluorites are not damage free, but it's still important that they're present on the specimen. If you collect Colorado minerals, this is a must have piece for the association! Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#8391). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). A beautiful and attractive old-time association specimen from this famous locale.
