Item Description

Sparkly, sugary drusy quartz has coated both the numerous well-placed blocky barite crystals and the sculptural shale matrix on this aesthetic and striking two-sided specimen from 2000s finds at this open pit and underground gold mine. The crystal at the top of the cluster on one end is 1.8 cm (it has a lightly bruised corner) and the large cleaved crystal at the other end is 2.5 cm. The rest of the many crystals are pristine. These are some of the most distinctive Nevada barites with quartz and this is a very showy, highly representative example from the Gary Weaver Collection. Even the mine level and stope is known. An important find.
