Item Description

While Hardin County is best known for its superb Fluorites, there are several other species found in the area, including some wonderful Barytes. This piece is a gorgeous and fine quality display specimen of the uncommon blue Barytes from Southern Illinois. It's a showy and aesthetic example that is filled with highly lustrous, razor-sharp, soft blue colored blades measuring up to about 1.1 cm, which have formed "rose"-esque groups in somewhat stalactitic growths. The piece is crystallized all around, and is nearly a complete "floater", but a small point of attachment can be seen on the back. The crystals are even a bit gemmy when backlit, making them truly fine quality for what they are. If you collect minerals from the Cave-In-Rock Mining District, this is a fantastic Baryte, and looks even better in person than the video might indicate. Valued $750.
