Item Description

This piece hails from a discovery in late 2014 at the Linwood Mine in Iowa. This material is some of the most distinct and beautiful examples of Baryte from any Midwest US locality. This particular piece is a wonderful and classic example of "silvery" colored crystals that have been on the market for about a decade now. This piece shows truly beautiful form for the species and the locality, featuring a predominant large, sharp, lustrous, VERY GEMMY crystal with the iconic thick prism and "chisel"-shaped termination, and a bit of attached matrix on the back. The real highlight on the specimen for me is that there is a smaller doubly-terminated Baryte that is nearly 100% WATER CLEAR, with textbook crystallization. The color of this material is singular, and truly does not resemble any Barytes we've seen from any other locality. The specimen is in remarkably fine condition with only one real contact on the bottom where the piece was separated from the pocket wall, otherwise it's essentially damage free. Priced in our inventory at $2,000. The specimen comes with a FREE custom acrylic base for display. Specimen weight is 285.6 grams.
