Baryte on Fluorite (RARE combo - classic urban LA locale!) ex Reynolds

A RARE, rich and very showy large fluorite and BARITE combination from this urban Los Angeles locale. Barite is known from this small old fluorite mine, but there are NO examples in the MINDAT Felix Mine Photo Gallery. Sculptural diverging sprays of glassy barite blades are aesthetically set next to a rich field of densely intergrown, gemmy, luscious apple-green cuboctahedrons with fabulous stepped-growth faces. These specimens were collected by the Gochenour brothers in the early 1990s, and are seldom available even within California. The vein was very small, and hard to work. It was tucked into a now-inaccessible canyon in a suburban development within the greater Los Angeles area, and can be considered a mineral from a very urban locale. Purple fluorescence. Ex Bob Reynolds Collection, a well-known fossil and mineral expert and Curator of the San Bernardino County Museum. He passed away in 2020. The piece has several fine display views. An outstanding and RARE California fluorite and barite combination and a MUST for the locality or species collector. Valued at $1500-1750.
