Item Description

VERY RARE style old barite from Los Angeles County. A sculptural intergrown 360-degree cluster of lustrous, glassy, transparent to opaque, modified tabular to blocky barite crystals are richly included with an unknown mineral. The impressive and pristine all-around dominating tabular crystal is 6.3 cm across. The skeletal features on the blockier crystals add pizzazz. Complete all-around and pristine. Ex J.G. Dixon and Tom Wolfe Collections and dates to the 1950s to 70s. Both labels indicate Los Angeles County with the Wolfe label suggesting the old and extinct Pb-Zn-Ag-Cu Black Jack Mine on Santa Catalina Island, making this a VERY RARE specimen. We have simply never seen another. A UNIQUE style of barite from Los Angeles County. A MUST for the species or locality collector.
