Item Description
Barite is an uncommon species from Norway, except from this less well-known extinct Zn-Cu-Pb mine, which crossed a rich barite vein (MINDAT). The mine produced beautiful rich honey-yellow specimens resembling barite from the famous iron mines of Cumbria, England. This aesthetic small cabinet cluster consists of two nicely intergrown pristine 360-degree tabular crystals with spearpoint and sloping terminations with rich color, high glassy lustre and transparent to translucent areas. The mine is near Herre, as listed on The Rocksmiths label. Seldom on the market today, this is a highly representative and classic example of the species and locale.
