Item Description

Bazzite is a very rare scandium analogue of Beryl, and specimens are very rare on the market. The specimens from the Kent Massif in Kazakhstan are some of the most well-known examples of the species. This piece is loaded with small, but fairly strong blue colored Bazzite crystals on matrix. The crystals are only a few mm, but they look beautiful up close. You can't find good Bazzite specimens on the market these days, and this piece is loaded with little crystals so don't miss out. The species was named after the Alessandro Bazzi of Italy, who first discovered the species. Bazzite is pronounced BAT-site, like pizza. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#11295). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017).
