Item Description

Bementite is an uncommon manganese silicate, named for the great US collector who had a keen interest in Franklin minerals. This showy and rich combination piece is from the Type Locality - the Trotter Mine at Franklin. Two, dense patches of classic, light brown bementite showing the classic foliated radiating crystal habit are aesthetically set on the sculptural calcite cleavage. Uncommon and seldom on the market.
