Item Description

Benitoite is one of those minerals that is tied to a single world locality. Even though the species is found in other places, the first (and often only) locality that people think of when it comes to Benitoite is the now closed Gem Mine in California. These classic specimens are renowned for their quality and beauty. This piece hosts a predominant, single, sharp, gemmy, trigonal, beautiful blue color crystal of Benitoite measuring 1.3 cm across associated with a few smaller Benitoites along with a couple of prismatic dark reddish-black crystals of Neptunite sitting on a bit of white Natrolite on matrix. The main Benitoite crystal shows a decent amount of gemminess when backlit. A lovely representation of this fast-disappearing material. Buy these pieces while you can, they will continue to vanish from the market since the mine is now defunct.
