Item Description

Benitoite in recent years has become of one of the most popular rare gems for collectors due to its vivid color and the fact that it was only found at one locality of any significance. The great Benitoite mine in California has been closed for years, it is now completely defunct for all intents and purposes, and will never produce these stones again. Benitoite is actually the state gem of California, and the price of fine gems has been on the rise since supply is low, and the demand is quite high. Gem dealers in the United States have told us that Benitoite is the most difficult gem for them to keep in stock, everything sells immediately. Keep in mind that when it comes to U.S. gems, they're always high in demand, and it doesn't matter if it's Benitoite from California, Rhodochrosite from the Sweet Home Mine, Hiddenite from North Carolina, Sapphires from Montana, etc., people are buying material from the United States at a higher rate than any point in history. This stone has a lovely blue color, and a fine "Round Brilliant" cut. It's slightly included, but for the size has good saturation of color.
