Item Description

This is a rarely seen specimen of Beryl from the Beryl Mountain Quarry near the town of Acworth in southwestern New Hampshire. This specimen is a somewhat crude crystal of beige-white Beryl, free of matrix. Unfortunately both ends are contacted, but you can see multiple prismatic crystal faces running the length of the piece. If you collect worldwide Beryls, minerals of New England, or unusual locality specimens for well-known species, do not miss out on this hard to find specimen from this lesser known pegmatite locality that dates back to the 1820's. From the collection of Jack Arbiser. An interesting note, this locality has produced some incredibly large single crystals of Beryl, one such example found in 1837 by Francis Alger measured 4 feet by 5 inches (122 cm x 12.5 cm) across a single prism face.
