Item Description

Beautiful, gemmy and lustrous, layered, hexagonal, pretty light green beryl crystals, to 6.7 cm, are embedded on all sides of the tapered quartz-rich and feldspar matrix on this showy, rich and classic old-timer from an unknown New England locale. The CURVED beryl crystals and the 1.5 cm muscovite "book" on one side add real pizzazz to this piece. The Kay Robertson label # 1929, acquired in the early 1960s, says "Westfield, New Hampshire". There is no Westfield, N.H. locality in MINDAT. The famous quarries in Westfield, Massahusetts are in basalt Traprock. MINDAT lists a very obscure Westfield, Aroostook Co., Maine locality. The specimen could be from any of the numerous New Hampshire pegmatite localities listed by MINDAT or from another New England locality.
