Item Description

This piece came labeled as coming from a place called Schoenfichte near Tirschenreuth, but I can't find any listing for this locality, so I believe it's possibly from the Johannes Mine in Bavaria. It features a notably sharp, and rather lustrous crystal of Beryl with a soft yellow-white color measuring 2.6 cm siting on Quartz matrix. It doesn't appear that either end of the Beryl is terminated, but it's still a GREAT example of this very hard to find material from Germany! Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#1341). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017). Valued at $950.
