Item Description

A rarely seen yellow Beryl crystal (Heliodor) from one of two localities according to the label. It could either be from the Fano Mine or the Juan Diego #1 Mine, both of which are located on Little Cahuilla Mountain. This crystal is slightly translucent when backlit, but it's the color that makes it significant, and most of the Beryl crystals I've seen from this area are a blue shade. This crystal is very sharp and lustrous with textbook hexagonal form. A cool specimen for anybody who collects Beryls, pegmatite minerals or specimens from California. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#10111). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
