Beryl var. Aquamarine and Heliodor with Schorl

Aquamarines have proven to be one of the most desired and sought-after minerals from the Erongo Mountains of Namibia and they are found in so many styles here. This is an unusual combination of Beryl varieties in this piece; a mix of Aquamarine and Heliodor beryls that some have nicknamed "aquador", but it's not readily accepted. In this particular piece, the slender two-toned prismatic crystals start out as yellowish, translucent Heliodor with the area right at the termination a more transparent, light blue Aquamarine resulting in the terminations and prisms having a sharply different shade. This variation in the crystals is engaging and adds much to the visual impact and mineralogical interest. There are dozens of these beautiful, two-tones crystals that adorn the top two-thirds of this piece with individual crystal ranging between 1 and 1.5 cm. There are several dozen Aquamarine-Heliodor crystals that are nicely arranged and positioned on a nest of very fine, jet-black Schorl crystals that can be seen at the base of the piece and up through the middle and back of the piece. The divergent Beryl crystals, as well as the nest of Schorl needles, creates a great aesthetic.
