Beryl var. Aquamarine with Schorl and Albite

Item Description

Two superb, glassy and gemmy, rich blue Aquamarine crystals cross each other in an X pattern on this handsome specimen. The crystals have glassy luster and exceedingly gemmy terminations along with a rich, blue color. The piece is very dramatic with the crossing Aquas measuring 3.9 and 2.8 cm, respectively and they are accented by shards of off-white Albite accented by a little jet-black Schorl for contrast. The largest Aqua crystal is very obviously doubly terminated and the terminations on the other crystal are obscured at both ends by Albite growth. Two, small, 8 mm each, striated, jet-black Schorl crystals, one thin and the other wider are growing within the mass of Albite. This is a beautiful and well-balanced miniature from the Erongo Region.
