Item Description

Emeralds are one of only a few precious colored gems in the world, along with Ruby, Sapphire and Alexandrite. Colombia has long been a source of top quality Emerald gems, but there are a few additional world localities that produce fine quality stones, just in a smaller quantity than their Colombian counterparts. It's important to stress that Emerald is classified as a type-3 gemstone which means that inclusions in the stones are almost always present, and perfect acceptable in the trade for collectors and dealers. With that said, it is very difficult to find a "clean" Emerald that is over a carat. This stone has some minor inclusions, and a brilliant glowing green color for the size. The greatest aspect of this stone is the fact that it comes from the northern area of Brazil in Bahia, which is known for producing some great color Emeralds, but not often gem quality material, so when you find a stone like this that's well OVER one carat in weight, it's a big deal. This stone is a beautiful, lovely green color, "Round Step" cut gem from this lesser known locality. It's a desirable and fine quality locality gem and the color is better than the photo / video might indicate, as Emerald is one of the most difficult gems in the world to reproduce the color. Retail price on this gem is $1,162.50
