Item Description

Emerald is at its best from Colombia, particularly the Muzo area, where some of the finest crystals (and gems have been found). This piece is a signature example of this classic material featuring a 5 mm, prismatic hexagonal crystal, but the smaller size does not keep it from having a GLOWING green hue. The crystal sits beautifully on typical Calcite matrix. With minor backlighting, you can see the Emerald has decent internal gemminess, and only VERY tiny imperfections around the termination when viewed under magnification. NO REPAIRS and just a showy little example of these fantastic Emeralds from this world-famous locality.
From the collection of David E Ziga, a geologist who graduated Miami (of Ohio) University in 2017, with a mineralogy background. Specimen #125.
