Beryl var: Heliodor

Item Description

A wonderful old-time Heliodor specimen from the famous Padre Paraíso locality in Brazil, mined in the 1980s. Heliodors are fairly uncommon from this locality, and most of the examples I've seen are single crystals, so this is a much more desirable specimen as it features a pair of crystals with beautiful golden/yellow color, sharp lustrous faces and good internal gemminess. The termination of the larger thinner prism has a slight bluish hue to it, so this is technically bi-colored crystal, and the smaller more stout crystal is doubly-terminated, as I can see small reflective faces on both ends. It's certainly the most distinctive and interesting examples of this classic material that we've had to offer, and would make a fine addition to any gem crystal suite, a Beryl collection or a collection of Brazilian minerals.
