Item Description

A really showy, subtly detailed small cabinet specimen of Brazilian Morganite from old 1970s finds at Urucum. This small cabinet specimen showcases a 4.4 cm crystal perched atop a contrasting white matrix composed of slightly metamorphosed granite. The Morganite is very gemmy to frosted within, the color is a nice soft pink, and the luster is excellent (glassy). The edges are modified and striated, which adds great visual interest to the piece. This is uncommonly good, as most specimens were larger and not necessarily as aesthetic as this. It is actually hard to find a small example of this size, from this important discovery (1960s), and in fact fist sized or up is usually what you can get (with attendant price and damage issues). It is better in person! Previously in the collections of A.L. McGuinness and W & A Cook. Valued $3500
