Beryl var: Morganite on Albite (classic material)

An wonderful old classic specimen of what are among the finest and most well-known examples of Morganite ever found. The famous White Queen Mine lies on Hiriart Hill in the Pala District of San Diego County, California and has produced some of the finest Morganites from any locality, not only in the United States, but North America. Matrix specimens of Morganite are rare, not only from this area, but most world localities, and these iconic specimens from the White Queen are highly desirable and sought after by collectors. This piece features a fairly thick crystal measuring 6.1 cm at its widest dimension, with decent internal gemminess and a gorgeous saturated orange-pink hue, sitting on slightly bluish-white Albite var: Cleavelandite matrix with minor associated Quartz. The Morganite is etched on all sides, giving it a really unique appearance, and it glows with color when backlit. There is no damage that I can find, as the Morganite is not broken, and has an almost ethereal form due to the etching. No repairs! This piece is from the 1960s era of mining, and if you collect Beryls, gem crystals, pegmatite minerals, or specimens from San Diego County, it's a cool matrix specimen to add to your collection.
