Beryl var. Morganite with Quartz on Albite

A USA Classic! These were mined by Norm Dawson and his family, mostly in the 1960s. This is an excellent example of gem morganite from San Diego, with no repairs or restoration typical on the material. The 5-cm-lon gmorganite, doubly-terminated, is mplaced on a balanced matrix of bladed, lustrous and translucent, pastel-blue albite crystals, to 1.3 cm. This crystal has gemmy terminations and slightly frosted prism faces typical of the locality. The adjoining quartz crystal is also frosted.
