Beudantite on Carminite (rare locality specimen)

Item Description

A notably hard to find specimen of the uncommon lead iron arsenate species, Beudantite from the prolific Tsumeb Mine. Upon close inspection, you can see there are dozens of little (approx 1 mm), razor-sharp, highly lustrous, rich brown colored (with some slight olive colored highlights on the edges) textbook trigonal crystals which are sitting on a layer of velvety, muted red colored, bubbly Carminite on matrix. We've photographed the crystals with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better illustrate the quality. These are incredibly hard to find from Tsumeb, and if you're a species collector, a Tsumeb enthusiast or you like beautiful micro material, don't miss out on this attractive piece from one of the most well-known mines in the history of mineral collecting. From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl (#9 T), a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel.
