Item Description

Drusy quartz and hematite-tinted drusy quartz covers this interesting bi-colored fluorite plate from this famous old fluorite mine. Densely intergrown, lustrous, translucent, blush-purple, stepped-growth cubes, to about 1.5 cm, are underlain by massive green fluorite. The backlit photo really shows the underlying green fluorite peering through. Rich purple fluorescence. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 346 and acquired from Scott Williams in the early 1950s or earlier, with the low collection number. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). Excellent and unusual bi-colored fluorite combination material from this classic locale.
