Item Description

The famous pegmatites at Virgem da Lapa produced a striking recent find of bi-colored tourmalines around Christmas, 2009. The body of this large, gemmy and lustrous, prism is a pleasing bottle-green with striking, contrasting, teal-blue zones near the base. The striking, lustrous, pyramidal termination is opaque super dark green. The base is schorl. There are gemmy, isolated, lilac lepidolite crystals on one side near the base. Complete all-around and very nearly pristine. Contacts on noted on the upper sides and part of one termination face, but have no damage, per se. A contact at the base has very modest bruising. A beautiful, large, very fine tourmaline from the recent find. 82 grams mass. Valued at $3500 and comes with a custom-made and engraved lucite base valued at $150, for free.
