Item Description

Tourmalines from Nepal's remote pegmatites are RARE on the market compared to those from Pakistan or Afghanistan. Most were recovered in the 1950s and 60s. This unusually shaped, lustrous, well-striated, parallel-growth bi-colored crystal has a gemmy pretty bottle-green body capped by a starkly contrasting translucent, variable golden-yellow to straw-yellow modified pinacoidal termination. The strongly fluted front with attached opposing side car crystals at the base adds sculptural character to this 360-degree crystal. The large crystal is pristine. The broken side cars on the back have rehealed tips. The broken bases of the crystals shows the diagnostic pink cores characteristic to this obscure locale. Rare and desirable Nepal tourmaline from the Uwe Strauss Collection. 41 grams mass.
