Item Description

Gorgeous, gemmy and lustrous, indicolite-blue, tourmalines crown an impressive large angled wedge of highly lustrous, well-striated, parallel-growth schorl crystals from the famous Santa Rosa Mine. The striking, fluted, parallel-growth, indicolites, with frosted, olive-green, pyramidal terminations have an incredible "cityscape" sculptural look. Rotating the piece and looking at the gemmy indicolites is simply amazing. Lower on the indicolite field, broken crystals are noted, but every one of them has a healed termination! Pink lepidolites and pearlescent cleavelandite blades are a super accent. This is technically a doubly terminated floater, as the schorl base, once broken, has totally healed over. Essentially pristine, except for the contacted base of the cleavelandite blades at one end and the very trivial side wear to couple of the large indicolites. Old-time, highly desirable material from the 1960s or 70s finds from this renowned locale. A very fine and unusual large Santa Rosa combination tourmaline with dramatic, two-sided visual appeal. Valued at $3500-4500 low to high, this is not the most gemmy of crystals but it is a major compound crystal of interesting shape and beautiful visual appeal
