Item Description

A gorgeous, gemmy and lustrous, 4.0 cm, bi-colored tourmaline on quartz and smoky quartz from the famous Cruzeiro Mine. The doubly terminated tourmaline looks opaque under normal light, but GLOWS when backlit. The schorl base (healed and regrown) is overlain by a glorious, 3 mm, indicolite-blue zone, with sudden change to beautiful emerald-green. The upper termination is gemmy, but darker. Complete all-around and nearly pristine, with only a broken tip off of a side car crystal by the upper termination. The quartz matrix is very interesting, in itself. A water-clear, doubly terminated, tabular, compound smoky quartz crystal rests on a doubly terminated, frosted quartz crystal. Old-time, unusual and excellent material from the 1960s or 70s from this noted locale. valued $1200
