Item Description

A 4.4 cm, striking, beautiful, bi-colored gemmy tourmaline crystal is aesthetically set on the side of intergrown, terminated, lustrous, glassy, translucent, smoky quartz crystals from the famous Himalaya Mine. The bi-colored well-striated beauty is mostly classic "Himalaya pink" accented with yellow-green, olive-green and more pink at the base. The terminated crystal has an impressive deep cleft on one side and the crystal is pristine. Part of one side is contacted, but there is no damage, per se. The multiple smoky termination area is partially contacted, but there is no damage, per se. Complete all-around, one side of the smokies is bruised, but is out-of-sight in the excellent display views. The clay tack on one side shows how piece would have been displayed, with tourmaline being horizontal on the top. Outstanding OLD-TIME combination material from the Kay Robertson Collection # K3b-67. The low collection number indicates that the piece was acquired prior to 1950! Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record).
