Item Description

Boracite is a rare borate found in evaporite deposits and this rare and excellent matrix specimen is from an old classic locality in Thuringia, Germany. Sharp, translucent, sea-green, orthorhombic boracite crystals to 5 mm are nicely scattered in clusters or as isolated crystals on the showy, vuggy anhydrite matrix. An outstanding specimen from the Howard Belsky Collection. Very rare in matrix richness and quality from this locale. Older material, especially since Howard acquired this when East Germany was still behind the Iron Curtain. Valued $500.
