Item Description

A sculptural mounded 360-degree vuggy crust of pretty light lavender, translucent amethyst botryoids with frosted surfaces from recent finds in Indonesia. Interestingly, the bottom reveals the etched white quartz interior of the crust. These have caused a major stir at recent shows and are certainly beautiful and artistically fine specimens. Botryoidal amethyst is quite rare worldwide. Analysis by Dr. George Rossman at Caltech concluded these should be labeled as amethyst, and not chalcedony or agate. A very showy and highly representative miniature example.
