Item Description

Stunning bright "eyes" of splendent, rich burnished-brown to gray-black, bubbly hematite botryoids form a dramatic and sculptural large 360-degree mounded specimen from recent finds in Morocco. They compare with the best and are more lustrous (even accounting for the fact that, as with all of these, one must assume they are lightly buffed in any case) from the famous 1800s to 1900s iron ore deposits of Cumbria, England. The matrix is massive hematite ore. This is wonderful recent material to the market. If this WERE English, and it would be easy to simply "say it was so," the price would be much higher! This impressive 3-dimensional piece has more relief, that most you see from the find. Excellent hematite from the Dr. Barratt Phillips Collection.
