Luminous, gray-black, metallic, bubbly hematite botryoids cover the hefty elongated banded to massive rust-brown iron ore matrix on this fine, rare and rich example. Botyroidal hematite is rare from any Chinese locale and this striking large piece is from a recent 2017 find at this obscure iron and manganese mine in Hunan Province. It reminds me of classic botryoidal hematite from England, the USA or Morocco, but it's from China. 1992 grams or 4.4 pounds mass.
