Item Description

This is one of the best specimens of Boulangerite that we've ever had to offer from the Noche Buena Mine in Zacatecas, Mexico. I've seen a few of these over the years, but this one really stands out in terms of quality, displayability and overall presentation. Hundreds of scintillating metallic grey Boulangerite needles cover the sulfide matrix (Pyrite and Sphalerite) on this fine small cabinet sized specimen. Many small grey colored scalenohedral Calcite crystals can be seen sprinkled all over the piece. Older material, certainly from the 1970s Very hard to find on the market, and a great combo piece to add to a sulfide / sulfosalt suite or a Mexican mineral collection. You would be hard-pressed to find a better example of this old material on the market today. Priced in our inventory at $1,500. From the worldwide mineral collection of Albert Lewis Kidwell (January 1, 1919 - August 16, 2008). Al was a well-known mineral collector and research geologist with Carter Oil Company and later Exxon Oil Company in Houston, Texas. The phosphate species Kidwellite was named in his honor in 1974. The piece is accompanied by a label from Dehne McLaughlin, the well-known Australian field collector who owns the famous Malbunka Copper Mine where the beautiful Azurite "suns" have been mined for years.
