Item Description

This piece dates back to the early 2000s. The Bournonites from Machacamarca certainly rank among the top examples of the species from any world locality, comparable to the famous specimens from the Herodsfoot Mine or Cornwall, or the more contemporary pieces from the Yaogangxian Mine in China. This is one of the better specimens of Bournonite that I have offered from Bolivia in the auctions. It consists of very attractive, sharp, lustrous, tabular, metallic, steel-grey color crystals of Bournonite, free of matrix. Fine quality on the display side, with one broken crystal on the back. It displays nicely as you can see from the video. It is in good shape overall, better than the vast majority of pieces I’ve seen from this locality over the last 2 decades. I can't say if there will be any more of these specimens either, as the locality has been spotty for a while now. Valued $1,000.
