Bournonite (mined in 2003)

Item Description

This specimen was collected around 2003 when some of the better Bournonites were found at Machacamarca. It hosts a 1.7 cm lustrous, attractive, sharp, tabular, metallic, silvery-grey color crystal with good form sitting atop micro grey Quartz. The piece is three-dimensional, and is still in good shape for the material. It's a showy piece compared to hundreds of mediocre specimens I have seen from this locality, especially from the standpoint of luster. The best of these specimens created a lot of excitement, so much so that one of the best pieces was featured on the cover of the March/April 2009 Issue of the Mineralogical Record! This specimen is from the same mine and is a good representative Bournonite from any locality, not just Machacamarca.
