Item Description

A good Bournonite thumbnail from Bolivia. With the new Chinese Bournonites out on the market, the Bolivian pieces get lost in the mix because the Chinese pieces are simply everywhere right now. Many of Chinese Bournonites that I've seen feature lustrous, prismatic crystals, but they're often very badly damaged (most crystals are bashed on every side), so comparatively, this Bolivian specimen is worthwhile from the standpoint of quality. There was a find of this relatively rare lead copper antimony sulfosalt several years ago at Machacamarca, and this piece is one of the better quality pieces found, and one of the VERY few matrix pieces we've had in the auctions recently This piece features an attractive, sharp, tabular, bright, metallic, dark grey color crystal measuring 1.0 cm sitting atop crystallized and massive Pyrite matrix with very minor bladed Barite. This material was found in very small quantities from Bolivia with fine crystals like this on matrix.
