Item Description

A 2.4 cm doubly terminated flattened bournonite crystal is jauntily set in a sculptural vug lined with tiny, glassy, densely intergrown calcite rhombs. The metallic crystal has splendent lustre with pretty light iridescence. The interesting stepped-growth/etched faces add pizzazz to the bournonite. The vug is perched on a rich vein of sulfide ore. Bournonite specimens are uncommon from the ancient and historic mines at Pribram. Celts mined here around 3000 years ago! The last mine closed in 1991, but this is probably an older specimen. A very fine bournonite combination miniature of the species and locale.
